Why is it assumed that western models of everything better than what we have. What's with the big obsession over "debates" between prime ministerial candidates. Because US Presidential elections have it?
Problems of national priority need integrated approach and often the solutions are simple. A debate signifies a difference in approach. How come every candidate NEEDS to have a different approach to national problems and then we should witness a "debate" over it?
Why not have an integrated discussion to draft policies which make a positive impact.That too in a better location than a TV Studio where they stop their speech after every 10 mins to powder up.
Opposition or Majority, are these members of parliament not voted to uplift the country. Debates and desperate attempts to pull down the other person is precisely the plague from which modern democracies suffer.
